The Office of the State Treasurer (OST) recommends employees meet with their agency, district HR or payroll representative at least 90 days prior to retirement to discuss accumulated sick and/or vacation pay.
When you retire, you may receive a payout of your unused sick and annual leave. Leave payouts are eligible for contribution into your Delaware DEFER account, within annual IRS deferral and catch-up limits.
If you elect to defer your sick and vacation time, make sure that your deferral form is sent to the Office of the State Treasurer (OST) at least 30 days before your final paycheck.
