Delawarean Ms. Wally McBride Baker Celebrates 110th Birthday
State Treasurer Jack Markell joined in honoring Ms. Wally McBride Baker Wednesday at the Parkview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Ms. Baker, who was born at home in Brandywine Hundred on what is now the 7th tee of the Brandywine Country Club, celebrated her special day surrounded by family, friends and special guests. According to the Gerontology Research Group (GRG), Ms. McBaker became the 80th oldest living individual in the world. In addition, Ms. Baker is believed to have become the only Supercentenarian in Delaware. When asked what she thought the secret to her longevity was, Ms. Baker replied with two key pieces of advice: first, "always be positive," and "don't drink or smoke."
