Free Money Conference "Sold Out"
Delaware Women Register in Record Numbers To Take Charge Of Their Money
State Treasurer Jack Markell and Ronni Cohen, Executive Director of the Delaware Financial Literacy Institute (DFLI) announced Friday, September 1st, that registration for the free financial education conference, From Purses To Portfolios has closed after 1,700 Delawareans signed up to attend. The conference which will be held Saturday, October 21, 2006 at the Chase Center on Wilmington's Riverfront is part of the "Take Charge Delaware Woman" certificate program which encourages participants to attend Delaware Money School classes and special events.
"The enthusiasm for this year's conference has really been incredible," Mr. Markell said. "During the first day of registration, we had almost 800 Delawareans sign-up to attend. I'm looking forward to joining with the attendees for a day of education and inspiration."
This year's conference will feature national and local speakers including Keynote Speaker Lucinda Yates who will share her journey of personal and financial recovery as she traveled from being homeless to a successful entrepreneur. The conference includes financial information, special events, continental breakfast, lunch, exhibits, and door prizes. Free bus transportation to the Chase Center is available from Kent and Sussex Counties.
"We are absolutely thrilled with the response of registration for this year's Conference," Ms. Cohen said. "We are even more elated with the commitment of hundreds of women and men to ongoing financial education."

The Conference, sponsored by the Delaware Financial Literacy Institute and State Treasurer Markell, along with Citigroup and Citigroup Foundation, is the highlight of a multi-faceted financial education program open to all Delawareans.
