State Treasurer Jack Markell Introducing Consumer Tool Chest.

Dover, DE - State Treasurer Jack Markell introduced his office's new Consumer Tool Chest of Financial Security Tools at an AARP Issues & Answers series on Tuesday in Dover. The Consumer Tool Chest is a financial-education initiative for Delaware's growing senior population.

"We created this tool chest to help to address some questions that many retirees have," Markell said. "Our state has become the home to many new retirees. Our goal is to provide those already in retirement as well as those still in the workforce and thinking about retirement some no-nonsense tools that they can really use to help plan for their future."

The Tool Chest covers more than just the basic financial issues that are expected when thinking about retirement planning. The Costly Fallout from Falling is covered and a Fall-Proof Safety Checklist is provided to assist seniors in making their homes a safer place. "Staying healthy can help keep you financially healthy too," Markell said.

The Consumer Tool Chest also covers the topics of Reverse Mortgages, How To Keep Track of Your Pension(s), Tips on Creating a Retirement Strategy That Is Right For You, Tips on Making Withdrawals from Your Retirement Account, Tips for Making 401K Withdrawals, How To Spot Billing Mistakes and a comprehensive list of Financial Health Resources available to assist Seniors.

Markell added, "Whether you're a senior or a child of a senior, we think there is valuable information for you in our Tool Chest."
