COUNCIL LAUDS STATE'S FINANCIAL LITERACY PROGRAM

The Council of State Governments' eastern regional conference has chosen the Delaware Financial Literacy Institute (DFLI) as one of 10 regional semifinalists for the 2002 Innovations Award.
The DFLI will compete with other semifinalists from four regions as one of the top state government programs in the country.
The Delaware Money School, created by state Treasurer Jack Markell in 1999, is being recognized as the primary financial literacy initiative.
State leaders evaluate applicants and choose winners based on a variety on a criteria including creativity, effectiveness and the program's applicability to its region's needs and to other states.
